L'Arche Bethlehem - Ma’an lil-Hayat

L

Established in July 2009 in Bethlehem, Ma’an lil-Hayat is a community project for the production of felt souvenirs made by people with mental disabilities. In spring the sheep are shorn, but today the wool is thrown away. Ma’an lil-Hayat buys wool and reuses it for making souvenirs. The wool is first washed and treated with special machinery and then compacted by hand, shaped and colored. The Ma’an lil-Hayat community produces ornaments and cribs and also runs a Boutique Hotel in the old city of Bethlehem. Ma’an lil-Hayat empowers people with intellectual disabilities by involving them professionally but also reintegrating them into society.
